I
am Associate Clinical Professor of Urology at the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine, Attending Urologist at Beth Israel Medical Center,
and Beth Israel Hospital (Singer Division) and Associate Attending
at New York University Downtown Hospital in New York City. I am a
Diplomat of and am Board Certified by The American Board of Urology
and the American Board of Sexology, a member of the American Urological
Association, the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors
and Therapists and the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons.
I am a Diplomat of the Societe Internationale d'Urologie, a Fellow
of the American College of Surgeons, and President of the American
Academy of Phalloplasty Surgeons.
I am the founder and director of New York Phalloplasty
and the Association for Male Sexual Dysfunction in New York
City. I am editor of the textbooks titled: ATLAS
OF SURGICAL TECHNIQUES IN UROLOGY, CURRENT
OPERATIVE UROLOGY (Edition 1 and Edition 2) and ANNUAL
EDITIONS, and MANAGEMENT OF IMPOTENCE
AND INFERTILITY. I was editor of the newsletter Sex Over Forty.
I have authored and published over 100 articles and book chapters
in the field of urology and have lectured and have demonstrated
surgery to urologists and plastic surgeons in America and overseas.
In 1999 I wrote a book titled VIAGRA -
THE WONDER DRUG FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE, published by Dell Publishing
in New York City. I am listed in the INTERNATIONAL WHO'S WHO IN
SEXOLOGY and WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA (56th Edition). I hold two United
States patents on unitary inflatable penile prostheses.
I have taught urology residents how
to perform penile lengthening and widening surgery at Beth Israel
Hospital and have demonstrated the surgery to surgical residents
from New York University Medical Center, medical students and
other
surgeons from the U.S. and overseas. In addition, I have made presentations
on penile enlargement surgery to the American Academy of Phalloplasty
Surgeons' Annual Meeting in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001,
2002, and 2003 and in 1994 was honored to give an Invited Commentary
to the
American Urological Association Annual Meeting on penile enlargement
surgery. In 1998 I presented my experience with penile enlargement
surgery at the Annual Meeting of the New York Section of the
American
Urological Association, and gave Grand Rounds to the Department
of Plastic Surgery at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital, and in
1999
gave Grand Rounds on this subject to the Department of Urology
at Beth Israel Medical Center and the Department of Surgery at
New
York University Downtown Hospital and presented my experience at
the Second Congress of the European Society for Male Genital
Surgery
in Milan, Italy. In 2000 I addressed The Society of Genitourinary
Reconstructive Surgeons at the 2000 Annual Meeting of the American
Urological Association in Atlanta, Georgia on Penile Enhancement
Surgery. In 2001 I addressed the Pan-Arab Congress of Genital
Disorders
and Sexual Dysfunction in Cairo, Egypt and chaired the session "Rationale
of Sexual Surgery"; and performed live surgery at The International
Live Surgery Update Course at the Fourth National Congress of
The
Italian Society for Male Genital Surgery, Rome, Italy, demonstrating
my technique of penile widening with Allograft Dermal
Matrix Graft (Alloderm ®).
In 2002 I was honored to be Guest Lecturer on the subject of Penile
Enlargement Surgery at the Postgraduate Course (HM 202) in Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico, titled "Urologic Management of Sexual Dysfunction"
sponsored by the American Urological Association Office of Education
and Research, was a member of the International Scientific Committee,
chaired the session titled: Penile Enhancement-Aesthetic Surgery
and presented 3 lectures on: penile enlargement surgery including
glanular enhancement and reconstructive penile surgery using Allograft
Dermal Matrix Graft (Alloderm ®) at the Second International
Congress on Surgical Andrology and Sexual Surgery, Myconos, Greece,
and introduced the
technique of Albugineal/Cavernosal Penile Widening with Allograft
Dermal Matrix Graft (Alloderm ®) for primary penile widening
in the erect state and combined Albugineal/Cavernosal and Pericavernosal
penile
widening with Allograft Dermal
Matrix Graft (Alloderm ®) for penile widening
in the erect and flaccid states at the 2002 Annual Meeting of the
American Academy of Phalloplasty Surgeons in Rancho Mirage, California.
In 2003 I was invited to present two papers titled: Glanular Enhancement
with Allograft Dermal
Matrix Graft (Alloderm ®) and Combined Albugineal/Cavernosal
and Pericavernosal Penile Girth Enhancement with Allograft Dermal
Matrix Graft (Alloderm ®) at the 16th World Congress of Sexology
in Havana, Cuba, to present a lecture titled: Penile Enlargement
at the Genitourinary
Reconstructive Session of the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive
Surgeons at the 2003 Annual Meeting of the American Urological
Association
in Chicago, IL., to present a lecture titled: Aesthetic and
Reconstructive Phalloplasty with Allograft Dermal
Matrix Graft (Alloderm ®) at
the 2nd Forum Mediterraneen d'Andrologie in Collioure, France,
and to present a State of the Art Lecture titled: Aesthetic and
Reconstructive Phalloplasty with Allograft Dermal Matrix Graft
at the European Society for Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery
(ESGURS Second Congress) in Milan, Italy.
In 2004 I was invited to present a paper titled: Aesthetic Genital Surgery at
the First World Congress on Aesthetic Medicine (International Society of Aesthetic
Medicine), Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, a paper titled: Penile Enlargement Surgery
(A Personal Experience of 404 Cases), at the 10th Annual Meeting of the Sexual
Medicine Society of North America at the 2004 Annual Meeting of the American
Urological Association, and to present Urology Grand Rounds (Teaching Conference)
at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York on Penile Enlargement Surgery.
I graduated from Vanderbilt University and obtained my M.D. degree
from the Indiana University School of Medicine. I interned at Mount
Sinai Hospital in New York City and received my surgical training
at the Rush - Presbyterian / St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago.
I was a captain in the U.S. Air Force and a surgeon in Vietnam.
I performed my urology residency at the New York University Medical
Center in New York City. The Institute of Urology at the University
of London, in association with St. Peter's and St. Paul's Hospitals,
awarded me a certificate of Post-Graduate Urological Instruction.
